"The stability of a web-service is completely dependent upon the reliability of the service provider"

Well, not completely. What if you have a web service on your company intranet, and for some reason, external connectivity goes down. Amazon et al are still reliable, it's your connection to them that may not be. Also, there are certain load restrictions that are placed on those services that may make them unacceptable for you. There are more issues to look at when choosing a service provider.

Yes you can use UDDI for REST, but I wouldn't be banking on UDDI these days. We're in a for a new bout of standardization around discovery.

Also, I'm not sure why you need your service to be discoverable from the outside world. Can you really stand up to the whole world banging down your door? Regardless of REST, the issue of discoverability within large organizations is still a bit shaky, with SOA Governance initiatives attempting to pick up the slack.

Really think about how much discoverability you need.

Good thinking, but the stability of web-service is completely depends upon the reliability of the service provider, for an example if you discover a Amazon or Yahoo web-services, that will be more stable and proven than any other un-reliable service provider.
Thats right that if you register your service thru UDDI, it will be available in discovery register.
But, now I have a question about this discoverability if we use REST architectural style, can we use UDDI for REST as well? Otherwise how can we make REST web services discoverable from the outside world?
