No further concerns really, given your client's acceptance of it. I think one can also derive or add-on RSS feeds of the project server or document management (e.g., SharePoint server). I use Groove for collaboration and keeping my clients informed of projects but for a cheaper deployment (Groove per seat is ~$50-150), I think a web-based publication should suffice. This is a good idea - please keep us informed of your progress.

I like the concept of 'standalone programmer'. Looking back at it, some of my more successful projects were under the umbrella of 'standalone'.. have to read up more about it at CodeProject.
I think the idea of 'publishing' project details/ status via RSS is a good one but one has to consider the end-client's cautions as they may not want project details published. (I am presuming here that the publications would be 'open' on unsecured lines).

Do it. It works *extremely* well in my experience.

I've been using blogs/rss/wiki's as project management tools for about a year and it's been a huge success. Get RSS feeds from your source control change logs and wiki recent changes too for extra fun. For even more fun get a wiki that can integrate RSS feeds into the pages.

I'm just playing with automatically creating burnup charts from wiki CategoryCategories at the moment :-)

It's not quite "on topic", but I schedule MS Baseline Security Analyser (MBSA) to run against my "farm" of dev and build machines, then repackage the results as an RSS file I can point my aggregator at. If I eventually get around to doing the same with the overnight build error logs then SharpReader will be approaching the status of "universal inbox" that Outlook first took a shot at some years ago.
